Simple Past Tense

Simple Past Tense digunakan untuk membicarakan "actions" yang terjadi pada waktu tertentu di waktu lampau.

(+) S + (was/were) + N/Adj/Adv

(-) S + (was/were) + not + N/Adj/Adv

(?) (Was/Were) + S + N/Adj/Adv?

contoh:
1. He was a Doctor.
2. They were in the same room.

(+) S + V2 + C

(-) S + did + not + V1 + C

(?) Did + S + V1 + C?

contoh:
1. He came to my house last night.
2. Winjor graduated from RBHS last year.

NOTE:
1. Untuk menunjukkan habit pada waktu lampau when i was young/ in 1990/.../ dsb, bisa digunakan usually, often, every,..., sometimes, dsb.
2. Beda antara present perfect dan simple past tense adalah penekannya. Simple past tense menekankan waktu sedangkan present perfect menekankan action.
3. Time marker yang umum: yesterday, last..., ... ago, one day, in ...(waktu lampau), once upon a time.
